Charles Brooks is a professional four-mallet jazz vibraphonist and percussionist in Baton Rouge known for his improvisatory techniques in any genre, on most any instrument. His group The Charles Brooks Collective is an experimental jazz group with roots grounded in fusion and electric jazz as inspired by musical greats like Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, The Weather Report, Jimi Hendrix, and Pat Methany. The Collective's modern improvisatory techniques combine with traditional jazz harmonies as melodies fuse with modern rhythmic application influenced by world music.
Dr. Charles Brooks takes the lead on jazz vibraphone and hand drumming and is accompanied by Dr. John Bishop on electric guitar, Chris "The Katt" Lee on drums, and Robert Kling on bass.
